DVD from PBS series
Review by Cate Montana
Wow. Whether you're 16 or 96 this is a great DVD for any and every woman to watch. I guess guys could watch it too - just in case they haven't gotten just how spectacular, gracious, humble, riveting, determined, extraordinary, powerful, creative and just plain magical the opposite sex is.
Jane Goodall (anthropologist and U.N. Peace Ambassador), Gloria Steinem (iconic feminist and author), Shirley MacLaine (actress and spiritual author), Erica Jong (cultural feminine icon), Alanis Morissette (7 time Grammy winner), Anita Roddick (founder of the Body Shop), Joan Borysenko (scientist and personal growth authority), Naomi Wolf (The Beauty Myth), SARK, (Wild Succinct Women), Sherry Ruth Anderson (The Feminine Face of God), Jean Houston (Passion for the Possible), China Galland (The Bond Between Women), Oriah Mountain Dreamer (The Invitation), and Gail Sheehy (New Passages) ... and other amazing women share their insights, their personal stories, and their inspiration in this three hour series. And it's more than just a compilation of talking heads - it's truly, personally, inspirational.
Ok, maybe there are just a tad too many shots of women with hair and scarves streaming in the wind gazing wisely out to sea, but considering the wealth of advice and vision this DVD contains, what's a little stage setting amongst friends? Basically this is an opportunity to feel like you're sitting in a living room over a cup of tea having a heart-to-heart with some of the most influential women of the 20th and the 21st century. Who would want to miss that?
Besides, this is a video of Hope. All of these amazing women insist our future is a bright one - as long as all the sisters realize their value and unite in self-worth, compassion and power, and insist on bringing it forth.
